Even before the nominees and honorees are announced, this year’s CFDA Awards is already making headlines. The June 4 ceremony will have Issa Rae as its host, making her the ceremony’s first female host in several years, and will take place in Brooklyn for the first time, swapping the Hammerstein Ballroom for the Brooklyn Museum. “Issa Rae is leading a new generation of performers who use their voice and humor to discuss social topics in a way that is relatable and poignant,” said CFDA president and CEO Steven Kolb in a release. “We are also excited to take the awards to Brooklyn this year. The Brooklyn Museum is a strong and iconic backdrop to one of fashion’s biggest nights.”

Rae will take over the hosting duties from Seth Meyers, who presided over last year’s event. What to expect from Rae’s CFDA Awards? We’d venture some telling jokes that pack a punch and reflect the zeitgeist—but don’t just take our word for it. Rae let Vogue into her world this summer as she explained exactly how to cancel plans like a pro. Watch her below, and keep an eye on more news about this year’s CFDA Awards.
